This session focuses on building classroom community through meaningful literacy experiences and social-emotional learning, fostering a strong sense of belonging.
The session explores classroom routines, songs, and rhymes, along with mentor texts and activities that support reflection, relationship-building, and the development of writers. Attendees will also create their own plasticine art project inspired by Canadian author and illustrator Barbara Reid, gaining hands-on experience and techniques to bring back to their classrooms. Participants will leave with practical ideas to support student growth and create an inclusive, connected learning environment in primary classrooms.
