About me
Solomiya Cherkavska is a teacher, additional language specialist, and advocate for women in leadership. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Alberta. Solomiya published the study “Building Leadership Capacity Among Women”, which presents practical solutions to support women’s aspirations to enter school leadership roles.As President of the Ukrainian Special Interest Group within Additional Languages and Intercultural Council, Solomiya designs and facilitates professional development sessions and leads province-wide initiatives, including Supporting Ukrainian Newcomer Students and Their Families. In recognition of her innovative teaching and community leadership, she was awarded Best Teacher of the Ukrainian Language Abroad by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Solomiya Cherkavska has served as Co-founder and Community Engagement Director of YEG4Ukraine, a humanitarian aid foundation.As a speaker and facilitator, Solomiya brings both scholarly insight and lived experience to conversations about leadership development. Her firsthand understanding of major life transitions demonstrates how change can function as a catalyst for leadership growth rather than a barrier to advancement. Her work centers on authentic and transformative leadership.
